Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters has arrested two key suspects linked to a ruthless syndicate.
The criminal gang has been responsible for a harrowing series of coordinated home invasions, robberies with violence, and gang rapes reported across the Ruai and Kamulu areas.
The breakthrough comes after intensive forensic tracking, offering a grim but necessary step toward justice for a community left deeply shaken by the gang’s aggressive tactics.
In one chilling incident on the night of June 11, 2026, the gang breached the security of a residence in Ruai.
Once inside, they held an entire family captive, subjecting the household members to severe physical violence and deeply traumatic offenses while demanding cash and valuables.
Before fleeing into the night with stolen electronic devices, the thugs forced the traumatized family to transfer funds via mobile banking platforms.
A separate in nearby Kamulu, the suspects stormed another home and held the occupants hostage.
As they ransacked the property for valuables, they once again coerced their victims into transferring money from both their mobile money wallets and bank accounts.
Tragically, this incident took a deadly turn, a brave neighbor who heard the commotion rushed to the scene to help, only to sustain fatal injuries as the gang violently fought their way out to escape.
Following these heinous crimes, DCI Headquarters deployed a dedicated team of detectives to track down the syndicate.
With the aide of forensic data and intelligence networks, investigators successfully mapped out the suspects’ movements, leading them deep into neighboring estates.
The manhunt led to the arrest of 39-year-old Shadrack Nyandieka Nyakwaba at Tassia Estate in Embakasi, believed to be a primary operative in the violent raids.
Seeking out the financial paper trail, detectives also arrested Monica Nyangau Sarange in Utawala, after investigations tightly linked her to the movement and laundering of the stolen funds.
Currently, both Nyakwaba and Sarange are held in police custody pending their formal arraignment in court.
