The Standard Newspaper has hit back following a scathing social media attack by President William Ruto.
Earlier, the Head of State took to his official X account to castigate the publication over a series of headlines targeting his administration.
“GMoi,your STANDARD media’s 5 days a week EXTORTIONIST propaganda HEADLINES on me & my administration’s transformative track record will get you NOTHING & NOWHERE,” read part of the post by President Ruto.
The post further read, “BLACKMAIL to yield to your GREED? NEVER.Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, not you alone.Jaribu 8 days a week. Do your WORST.”
In a swift and sharp rejoinder, The Standard responded to the Head of State by sharing an image of him reading the newspaper, accompanied by a biting caption:
“We are printing The Standard eight days a week so as to meet your demand.”
The fiery exchange has since triggered a wave of reactions across various social media platforms.
Beyond the bold front-page headlines, the media house’s sister television station, KTN, has also recently intensified its scrutiny of the administration with a special series dubbed the ‘Gallery of Ruto’s Lies’.
