Police in Homa Bay County have launched a murder investigation following the horrific killing of a 60-year-old man outside his home in Kasure village, Rangwe Sub-County.

The victim, identified as Tobias Ndere, was found lying dead outside his house on Monday morning after police officers responded to a distress report filed at approximately 4:05am

Detectives who visited the crime scene reported finding the body with multiple severe cut wounds across the head and face.

Investigators believe the fatal injuries were inflicted using a heavy, sharp object.

According to a statement given to police by the deceased’s wife, she had returned home from Randung Market at around 7:30pm on Sunday but did not find her husband.

At around 9:00pm, she heard him shouting as he approached the homestead, appearing to be heavily intoxicated.

She explained that her husband was habitually violent when drunk.

Fearing for her personal safety, she temporarily hid at a neighbor’s house to allow him time to calm down, a routine she had practiced during previous incidents.

When she returned home later that night expecting the situation to have defused, she was shocked to discover her husband lying outside the house bleeding heavily from fatal injuries.

She immediately raised the alarm to local residents, who subsequently alerted the police.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the area before transferring the body to the Homa Bay County Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to assist in the investigation.

Homa Bay police confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, and the motive behind the brutal killing remains under active investigation.
