Liverpool suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the English Premier League on Sunday after a second-half collapse at Anfield.
The hosts held City to a goalless first half but struggled to recover after midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute for a second yellow card.
Manchester City took advantage of their numerical superiority, scoring three goals in the space of 13 minutes to secure all three points.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 65th minute before Jeremy Doku doubled City’s lead three minutes later.
Rayan Cherki completed the victory in the 78th minute with a third goal that sealed a memorable afternoon for the visitors.
Liverpool had competed strongly before the dismissal, but losing a player disrupted their efforts to contain City’s attack.
The visitors took control of the match and punished the home side’s defensive weaknesses.
The defeat was a major setback for Liverpool, who had hoped to use their home advantage to challenge the league leaders.
Manchester City, meanwhile, maintained their perfect start to the league campaign, extending their winning run to six matches and moving three points clear of second-placed Arsenal.
Liverpool will now need to regroup and address their defensive organisation as they prepare for their next league fixture against Brentford on October 17.
