Celebrated Journalist Larry Madowo and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen engage in a public spat on Facebook following the latter’s allegation that Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was in a pathetic state.
He castigated Madowo for painting his country in bad light, a matter that did not go well with the CNN journalist.
“Do you want to tell me that there is nothing good in JKIA? Do you want to say that the only good thing you saw with the express way is the few minutes of blocked drainage? Stop amplifying negatives and have a balanced attitude towards life and progress,” read part of CS Murkomen’s post.
He further lectured Madowo, “Bro, being a recognized Kenyan working for top global media house comes with utmost responsibility. You and I already know we have our areas of improvement and that’s why people like me occupy such offices. But Bro, don’t use your global amazing voice to amplify negativity. Your colleagues working for CNN don’t do that when they visit their home countries. You are now a big brand you are not just being followed by folks from Nyalgunga or Embobut. Every time you visit your country or continent and you amplify negativity then you build a false imbalanced image of your motherland.”
On his part, Madowo replied, “Bro, I want you to succeed, I really do. I point out these issues because I love my country. I want it to work for everyone, not just the powerful and the privileged. I’m just a concerned citizen who refuses to support mediocrity in the name of positivity. We deserve nice things – all of us.”
Kenyans on Social media had mixed reactions on their engagement.
Nyto Mwangi wrote; Mambo NI Pole pole Larry, This administration cannot solve issues that have been here since independence in 13 months in office.
Ahmed A. Kosar commented in support of Madowo; You’re right! you don’t have to support mediocrity in the name of positivity!
Kippish Liz wrote: We’re struggling to build ourselves in a primitive society where the political elite loot the country dry till citizens worship them when they build an empty classroom!
