President William Ruto has directed the Ministry of Education to postpone the reopening of schools for the second term indefinitely.
This decision has been prompted by the ongoing floods that are devastating many parts of the country, with 33 counties affected so far. Originally scheduled for April 29, the reopening of schools was postponed by the Ministry of Education on April 28, announced at midnight.
The floods have caused thousands of people to be displaced across various regions, with many seeking shelter in schools and other institutions.
Additionally, the head of state has issued a directive for all residents living within riparian areas to vacate as the heavy rains persist.
