Shock as Siaya locals lynch a mentally challenged man

SIAYA: In a tragic incident in Siaya town, a 40-year-old mentally challenged man was lynched by a mob for allegedly menacing pedestrians with a machete and hurling stones indiscriminately.

According to Siaya County Police Commander, Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the distressing events unfolded after a concerned citizen reported that the individual, known as Brian Ogutu, was throwing stones at passersby near the governor’s office in Siaya’s central business district.

Enraged by his actions, members of the public took matters into their own hands and confronted him, resulting in a violent altercation.

Confirming the grim outcome, Kimaiyo stated that the deceased sustained severe lacerations all over his body during the assault and tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, and the victim’s remains were transported to Siaya County Referral Hospital morgue, pending formal identification and a thorough autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
