The Chief Justice Martha Koome has confirmed the death of Makadara Magistrate Monica Kivuti who was shot by a senior police officer while delivering judgement.
In a post on her X account the CJ said the injuries were extensive leading to her death.
“I wish to confirm to the Nation that Hon. Monica Kivuti, Principal Magistrate, Makadara Law Courts has lost the fight against the extensive injuries sustained during an open gun attack in Court. The Judiciary family stands in solidarity during this deeply traumatic time and calls for sensitivity and compassion as we share in grief. A comprehensive statement by the Judiciary Leadership Team which is in a meeting presently will issue shortly. May Hon. Kivuti’s soul rest in eternal peace. CJ Martha Koome,” read her post.
