Siaya Sports ambassador Jared Otieno Obonyo, popularly known as “Jaro Soja,” has resigned from his position, citing a lack of benefits since his appointment on January 1, 2023.

Governor Orengo appointed him during the close of the Migwena Sports Festival in Bondo sub-county.

Jaro Soja expressed disappointment that the ambassadorial role did not contribute positively to Siaya’s sports development or his personal growth.

“I was appointed with high hopes of uplifting sports in Siaya and benefiting personally,” he stated. “However, I, Jaro Soja, hereby rescind as the Sports Ambassador of Siaya County.”

He highlighted frustrations from individuals close to the county executive, suggesting that his efforts were hindered despite his appointment.

Jaro Soja, well-known for his fervent support of Gor Mahia, also criticized the lack of goodwill from the county government towards the sports sector.

Jaro Soja made these remarks while distributing sports kits and equipment donated by the Dr. Raymond Omolo Foundation.
