List of Kenya Kwanza leaders who have faced wrath of public for voting yes

Several MPs who voted in favor of the Finance Bill 2024 have faced public backlash since Thursday’s vote.

Some have encountered direct confrontation from constituents expressing their disapproval.

In a viral video on social media, Lamu East MP Ruweida Obo was openly criticized for her yes vote during a church function she attended.

The former Women’s Representative was seen leaving her seat and descending amid chants from attendees questioning her decision to support the Finance Bill 2024.

Despite the heckling, Obo stopped in front of a camera and defiantly declared her intent to vote yes again in the upcoming Tuesday session, stating, “Even if it was a cow, we passed it. I voted yes, and I will vote yes again.”

Dagoreti South MP John Kiarie also faced public anger when he was prevented from addressing a crowd, denying him the opportunity to speak.

Similarly, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was stopped from discussing politics at a function by a priest.

In another incident, CS Sports Ababu Namwamba was booed and jeered at a comedy show honoring the late comedian Fred Omondi, brother of Eric Omondi.

The former Budalangi lawmaker encountered the harsh reality of public displeasure.

Meanwhile, in the opposition stronghold, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda’s affirmative vote triggered demonstrations, with protesters symbolically burying a small coffin to signify his political demise.
