I will not apologize for supporting the Finance Bill 2024, North Imenti MP, Rahim Dawood says

Rahim Dawood, the lawmaker representing Imenti North, has staunchly defended his decision to vote in favor of the withdrawn Finance Bill 2024, declaring that he owes no apologies despite facing backlash.

While other MPs who supported the bill have been apologizing to their constituents, Mr. Dawood has refused to follow suit.

Mr. Dawood justified his stance by arguing that although the bill may have imposed hardships on Kenyans, it was necessary to help the debt-ridden country emerge from its economic difficulties.

He criticized what he perceived as misleading information about the bill and maintained that it was not inherently harmful.

However, following protests organized by Gen Z activists, the lawmaker suffered significant losses when his property was vandalized. He estimated the damage would cost him nearly Sh2 million to rectify.
