Kidnappers from Somalia, Police uncover secrets behind the syndicate beaten by mob in Kakamega

Police in Kakamega are currently investigating a suspected syndicate involving Somali nationals, following an incident where members of the public intercepted a vehicle allegedly attempting to kidnap two children in Kakamega.

The incident resulted in a mob justice situation where two of the occupants were killed, and the remaining individuals were taken into police custody for further investigation.

According to a police report obtained by Kondele News, the incident occurred on July 5, 2024, at approximately 6:30 AM.

A white Toyota Noah carrying nine occupants, including eight Somali nationals and one Kenyan identified as Stephen Ochung, was allegedly involved in the attempted kidnapping near Mulwa Primary School.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found that the vehicle’s occupants had been attacked by a mob, two of the suspects, including the driver Stephen Ochung, succumbed to their injuries.

The remaining seven suspects sustained serious injuries from machete cuts and were transported to Butere Sub-County Hospital for urgent medical attention.

During the investigation, police recovered two identity cards: one belonging to the Kenyan driver and another Somali ID card issued to an adult female named Amal Warsame Yusuf.

The bodies of the deceased suspects were taken to Butere Funeral Home pending identification and postmortem examination.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged kidnapping attempt and the identities of those involved.
