Justina Wamae, Prof Wajackoya’s running-mate, rejects presidential appointment

Former Roots Party Deputy Presidential candidate, Justina Wamae, has declined an appointment offered by President William Ruto, citing maternity leave as the reason for her decision.

The former running mate of Prof. George Wajakoya announced her decision through her official X handle, expressing gratitude for being considered to serve on the task force aimed at addressing human resources for health.

However, she regretted that she had to decline the appointment due to her current condition.

“Thank you Mr President William Samoei Ruto for recognising my strength, capacity, ability and subsequently appointing me to serve in the presidential taskforce on addressing human resources for health vide gazette notice no. 8437 executive order no. 5 of 2024 dated 5th july, 2024,” she posted,

The post further read, “However, after careful consideration, I have decided to decline your offer given that I’m currently on maternity leave and this development would affect my ability to work effectively at this time.”
