Stop cyber-bullying Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka pleads with Gen Zs

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has made headlines by accusing the youth of cyberbullying former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking at the Pan African Youth Convention, the former vice president highlighted that Kenyans inundated Raila Odinga’s phone with calls and messages following his meeting with President Ruto, which advocated for dialogue.

Musyoka expressed concern over this harassment, noting that it forced Odinga to change his phone number.

“I spoke to my big brother Raila Odinga on my way here. People went to visit him yesterday. And when they visited Baba, he had to change his telephone number,” Kalonzo remarked.

As a co-principal in the Azimio La Umoja alliance, Kalonzo acknowledged the role of GenZs (Generation Z) in this incident, suggesting they shared Raila’s phone number widely.

He appealed to Kenyans to show kindness and respect towards Raila Odinga.

Kalonzo Musyoka commended the youth for achieving what political parties and civil organizations had struggled to accomplish for a long time: fostering social cohesion.

“We need to clap for the GenZs. They have taken over what NCIC and political parties failed to do,” he added.

Encouraging African youth to follow suit, Kalonzo urged them to assert their rights as outlined in their respective constitutions.

His statements at the convention underscored both the power and responsibility wielded by the younger generation in shaping political discourse and social dynamics in Kenya and beyond.
