President Ruto appoints members of opposition to the cabinet

President Ruto has appointed four members of the opposition party into his broad-based cabinet.

Hon. John Mbadi got the national treasury docket, Opiyo Wandayi energy and petroleum, Ali Hassan Joho got mining, blue economy and maritime affairs while Wycliffe Oparanya got cooperatives and MSME development.

It hasn’t been 24 hours when the Orange Democratic Party dismissed reports that the party was angling for positions in President Ruto’s administration.

While reiterating the party’s stance, ODM’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna warned some of the party members who were eyeing slots within Ruto’s cabinet

According to the Nairobi senator, members who made themselves available for the rulling party’s cabinet slots or any other position would be doing so without the party’s support.

Minutes after the president nominating the four, they took to their social media pages thanking the president for choosing them.

Ali Hassan Joho, who holds an official office in the party, in his X account humbly accepted the nomination.

“It is with great humility and profound appreciation that I accept my nomination by H.E the president William Ruto for the position of cabinet secretary of mining, blue economy and maritime affairs,” read the post.

Hon Opiyo Wandayi followed suit, thanking the president for the nomination in the energy and petroleum docket.

“Thank you president William Ruto for nominating me to the position of CS energy and petroleum. It will be a great honour and privilege to serve my country in this new capacity of I secure the approval of the national assembly,”

ODM party has been preaching water, but guzzling wine, all the while taking Kenyans for a ride.

Earlier, the other Azimio co-principles distanced themselves from the dialogue plans that Raila Odinga agreed to with the president.

Marc Kenya leader Martha Karua said that it would be the greatest betrayal if the youths lives that were lost during anti government protests would be the price for a few individuals to get positions in government.

Well, the nomination is just a step, they must convince parliament that they deserve to be CSs in their areas of appointment. All eyes on the law makers as the fate of the ODM four now lies with them.
