Petty thief; Police looking for a thief who stole from a shop and set it on fire

Police in Rarieda are tracking down a thief who broke into a shop, stole items, and set the shop on fire in Okela village, Kwtweng’a sub-location.

The suspect allegedly removed a brick from the wall, gaining access to the shop, and stole items such as sugar, cooking oil, and wheat.

The shop owner, Beatrice Odongo, reported the incident to the police. She was alerted to the fire by a passing boda boda operator around 0430 hours.

“A boda boda rider passing by informed me that my shop was on fire,” Beatrice recounted. She responded immediately and confirmed the incident. After opening the door, members of the public helped her extinguish the fire.

Police officers from Madiany police station visited the scene and confirmed that the shop was set on fire by an unknown person.
