The management of Gor Mahia Football Club has urged fans and members to avoid renewing memberships through new, unauthorized pay bill accounts and to stick with the original account number, 350100.
In a press release signed by Club Treasurer Dolfina Adhiambo, the management expressed concern over unscrupulous individuals attempting to swindle public money through various pay bills.
“I want to state categorically that the official Club pay bill for registration is 350100, which has been in use for over 10 years since it was opened on January 31, 2014. Previously, the account number used members’ IDs, but it now uses a member’s phone number due to data protection policies at Safaricom. I urge all fans and members renewing their memberships to use 350100 as the only official pay bill for registration,” read part of the press release sent to media houses.
Ms. Adhiambo also emphasized the need for the club’s accounts to be audited, citing concerns about funds donated by members, well-wishers, and organizations.
“I will be formally inviting all relevant government investigative agencies to examine the club’s financial conduct. Anyone found criminally liable for theft or wastage will be brought to justice,” she stated in the document.
The press release highlighted several areas of financial misappropriation within the club, including:
- Unbanked cash from the Federation, donors, and other tournaments
- Accounts opened under the name GOR MAHIA FC and their signatories
- Alleged pending bills, including sign-on fees for players, personal loans to the club, and illegal withdrawals from the official club account
- Another pay bill opened under the GMFC 2-million-dollar harambee, the money raised, and how it was spent
