Reasons Cleophas Malala was ousted from the coveted UDA’s SG seat

Chaos erupted today at UDA Headquarters following the sudden revocation of Cleophas Malala’s position as Secretary General of the ruling party.

In his place, the party’s Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Hassan Omar Hassan, will serve as Secretary General on an interim basis.

This morning, a group of angry bodaboda riders stormed the party’s headquarters along Ngong Road, causing significant disruption and rowdiness.

Malala’s removal comes amid criticism from some UDA members, who accused him of losing focus and disrespecting President William Ruto in his dealings with ODM’s Raila Odinga concerning national negotiations.

“After wide and consultative deliberations, and in compliance with its mandate under Article 8.2 of the Party Constitution, the National Executive Committee has decided to designate the Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Hassan Omar Hassan, to act as Secretary General on an interim basis,” read a statement from UDA.

This is not the first time the former Kakamega senator is finding himself at loggerheads with the party members.

Recently, Joe Khalende stormed the office and declared himself the Secretary General citing incapability of Mr Malala to steer the ruling party.

Many leaders have tweeted and showed concerns in the manner Mr Malala was treated.

Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale took to his X account and tweeted.

“Easy come, easy go,” implying that the seat easily came and easily went.
