Drama after a woman and her five children stormed church to stop their father from wedding another woman

Drama unfolded at Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church in Ngurubani, Kirinyaga County, after a woman stormed in to halt a wedding ceremony.

The woman, identified as Rose Wawira, arrived with her five children, demanding an immediate stop to the proceedings.

Ms. Wawira claimed that the groom, Chomba Njoka Mutambu, 58, who is also a pastor at the church, had already been married to her since 2013.

“We went to church to solemnize our marriage according to canonical rules, and it was granted by a Kerugoya parish. I wonder how he is wedding another wife without our knowledge,” Wawira complained.

The wedding in question was between Rev. Chomba and Pastor Regina, both members of Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church.

As Wawira and her children attempted to disrupt the event, they were met with resistance from security personnel.

“We are wondering why they are coming at this time despite all the opportunities they had to object during the preparations,” said Peter Macharia Kamau, a member of the congregation.

Wawira accused Chomba of abandoning his family and living with Pastor Regina.

The children of Chomba and Wawira condemned their estranged father, accusing him of abandoning them to live with Pastor Regina.

The incident has left the community in shock, questioning the integrity of those involved and the sanctity of the church’s proceedings.
