President Ruto hints at having a running mate from Luo-Nyanza in 2027

President William Ruto has hinted at the possibility of working closely with the Luo Nyanza region as the 2027 general elections approach.

The Head of State is currently on a four-day visit to the region, touring Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, and Kisumu counties.

Addressing a large crowd that gathered to welcome him in Kisumu yesterday, President Ruto emphasized that there was no obstacle preventing him from collaborating with the region in 2027.

“I decided to form a broad-based government to end tribal-based politics. That means we can all work together,” President Ruto stated.

He added, “You remember we worked together some years back, so there’s nothing stopping us from working together again.”

Speculation is rife in political circles that Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi or Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga may be potential candidates to serve as President Ruto’s deputy in 2027, when he will seek a second term.

On the matter of the African Union Commission (AUC) seat, which ODM leader Raila Odinga is being considered for, President Ruto remarked that the Orange party leader was the best candidate for the position.

Today, President Ruto will be in Homa Bay to launch several development projects and attend the thanksgiving ceremony of Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
