Ugunja Constituency Manager, Moses Omondi, keen to fit his boss’ shoe as lawmaker

Ugunja Constituency Manager, Moses Omondi, has decleared his candidacy for the Ugunja parliamentary seat, which became vacant following Opiyo Wandayi’s appointment as the CS for Energy.

Having served as the office manager since the constituency’s creation from the former Ugenya constituency in 2013, Omondi aims to build on the legacy of his former boss, Wandayi.

Known for his calm demeanor, understanding nature, and empathy, Omondi is widely regarded as a man of the people.

These qualities are expected to help him navigate the political landscape and secure the position as the second lawmaker for the constituency.

When Wandayi left office, he was serving his third term as the legislator and leader of the minority.

Omondi will first vie for the ODM party ticket during the primaries before facing his opponents in the general election.

The Ugunja parliamentary seat is anticipated to attract a number of candidates from various parties.

In the last general elections, Wandayi decisively bruised his competitors, securing 32,359 votes. His closest rival, Francis Odawa of the MDG, garnered 3,691 votes, while Oyugi Dor of UDM managed just 3,156 votes.
