Grief after a KCSE candidate drowned in Machakos County

A family in Machakos county is drowned in sorrow after their son, who is a KCSE candidate drowned while swimming in a dam near his school.

17-year old Abel Mwendwa, a candidate at Katelembo Centre of excellence was allegedly returning home when the tragic incident happened.

“Nilikuwa wa kwanza kufika. Kuangalia kijana nikapata hana nguo. Kitambo kamba ifike kijana alikuwa amezama,” said Alexander Mwanzia, a witness.

Angry parents stormed the school demanding answers from the school management.

“Nilijaribu kuuliza mwalimu kile ilifanyika hakunipa majibu,” a parent, Barrita Mwikali said.

The police are investigating claims that Abel was sent home to collect school fees, a claim that the school management has denied.
