Police arrest notorious suspect leaking KCSE 2024 exams online

One of Kenya’s most wanted fraudsters involved in the 2024 KCSE exam malpractices, Collins Kipchumba Kemboi, was arrested today in Kiamunyi, Nakuru.

Operating under the alias Dorothy Jerop Kiprono, the 23-year-old man had become a major headache for the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) officials, masterminding an extensive exam cheating ring.

Kemboi had built a massive following, with over 78,000 people seeking KCSE exam leaks on his Telegram account and more than 8,500 members in his WhatsApp exam leak groups.

His operation had raised alarms about the growing menace of examination malpractice in the country.

The officers, who had been tracking his activities for some time, executed a swift arrest. Surprisingly, they found Kemboi in possession of his tools of the trade—his Infinix Hot 10 Lite phone—used to distribute leaked exam materials, along with several SIM cards, national IDs bearing different names, and a driving license.

In a joint operation, DCI officers from KNEC, supported by Nakuru County detectives, 1closed in on Kemboi at his home in Kiamunyi.

The fraudster, who was found red-handed with his illegal materials, was immediately taken into custody.

Further investigations revealed that Collins Kipchumba Kemboi is a Bachelor of Arts graduate in Human Resource Management from a Kenyan university.

He is also employed as a salesperson for an international company and hails from Kaseta, Sacho in Baringo County.

Following his arrest, Kemboi is now being held at the Nakuru Central Police Station as he faces charges of fraud, unauthorized possession of examination materials, and incitement to commit examination malpractices. He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at the Nakuru Law Courts.
