Shock as police discover assorted police items at a home in Homa Bay County

Police in Rachuonyo South sub-county have arrested four individuals in connection with the possession of police property, following a tip-off from a concerned member of the public.

The suspects include Jacob Okuku, an elderly man, his daughter-in-law Grace Aroko, and two young men, Jeff Omondi (18) and Nashon Odwar (19).

According to a police incident report seen by Kondele News, the arrest operation began when police received information about two young men attempting to sell police attire in Oyugis town.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended Jeff Omondi, who was found in possession of two live 7.62mmx51 rounds, a jungle hat, and a jungle police trouser.

His accomplice, Nashon Odwar, was found with an AP jungle jacket and two more live rounds of the same caliber.

During questioning, Nashon managed to escape, but Jeff revealed that the items were given to them by Samwel Otieno, 18, who is still at large.

The investigation led officers to Samwel’s home, where they searched his grandfather Jacob Okuku’s house. There, they discovered a cache of police property, allegedly belonging to APC Robin Ochieng Okuku, an AP officer stationed in Bomet.

The recovered items included three AP jungle shirts, four AP Angola shirts, one AP smoke jacket, one AP ceremonial belt, one jungle belt, two AP lanyards, two G3 serviceable magazines, 41 live rounds of 7.62mmx51, three blank rounds of the same caliber, one AP raincoat, two military water bottles, a pair of jungle military boots, one meter of flannel, a magazine pouch, and a Maasai sword.

The police report also indicated that two AP smoke jackets had already been sold. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover the extent of the theft and distribution of police property.
