City Crime Watch: Police in Kijabe are on the hunt for three robbery suspects who attacked a motorist last night at a bridge along Old Kijabe Road, making off with Sh70,000, a Samsung Galaxy S22, and several credit cards.
The gang, armed with machetes and a pipe wrench, had used a log to block the bridge, ambushing the motorist just before 11 PM as he stepped out of his car to clear the obstruction.
Facing death threats, the victim complied, surrendering his valuables and revealing his Mpesa PIN, allowing the thugs to transfer Sh70,000.
The robbery was interrupted when the gang was distracted by the approach of another vehicle, giving the victim a chance to escape to the nearby Rift Valley Academy.
Security personnel at the school quickly alerted the OCS at Kijabe Police Station. Police responded immediately, assisting the victim back to his car and escorting him home.
Despite a thorough search of the surrounding thickets, the suspects managed to evade capture.
Detectives from Lari sub-county have taken over the investigation, following up on potential leads to apprehend the violent robbers.
