Six die in a Narok accident as festive season hit fever pitch

NAROK: A grisly road accident along the Narok-Bomet highway claimed six lives yesterday, police reports have confirmed.

The fatal crash involved a Narok Line Service matatu and a school bus belonging to Mesabisabi Secondary School.

According to a report filed at Ololulunga Police Station, the school bus was overtaking multiple vehicles amid heavy rainfall when it collided head-on with the matatu heading toward Narok from Bomet.

The impact of the collision was devastating, leaving three passengers in the matatu dead on the spot.

Three more victims, including two adult women and a young girl, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Ololulunga Sub-County Hospital.

“Due to the impact, three passengers in the matatu died on the spot. The injured were evacuated to Ololulunga Sub-County Hospital, where two women and a girl succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment,” read the police report.

The bodies have been transferred to Narok County Referral Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

Both vehicles were towed to Ololulunga Police Station for inspection as investigations into the incident continue.
