Police officers in Rodi Kopany, Homa Bay County, have arrested a teenage mother for allegedly dumping her newborn baby into a pit latrine moments after delivery.
Authorities were alerted by concerned villagers who noticed suspicious behavior from the young mother and suspected foul play.
One resident reportedly witnessed the minor disposing of the infant and immediately raised the alarm.
Police responded swiftly to the scene and took the teenager into custody as investigations into the incident continue.
