Energy CS Wandayi hits at Kalonzo, Defends Broad-Based Government

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has hit out at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, urging him to stop criticizing President William Ruto’s administration and its broad-based government agenda.

Speaking in Gem Yala Sub-County during the launch of a rural electrification project, Mr Wandayi dismissed Kalonzo’s remarks, accusing him of unnecessary interference.

“The Wiper leader should keep off matters concerning the broad-based government. Let him give us a break instead of making noise about it every other day,” Wandayi stated.

He also took a swipe at leaders from Nyanza who have voiced concerns over the evolving political alliance between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Without mentioning names, Wandayi accused some politicians of exploiting Odinga’s influence for personal gain.

“There are individuals who pretend to be close to Mr. Odinga during elections, only to benefit from his political strength while he bears the losses. They feed on his political blood,” he remarked.

The CS further hinted at deepening political divisions, categorizing Kenya’s political landscape into two factions—the Broad-Based Coalition and what he termed as the “Wamunyoro Coalition.”

“When the right time comes, we will address this matter properly,” he added, signaling looming political realignments.
