The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially launched a 30-day national drive for Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR), opening a critical window for eligible Kenyans to secure their place on the national registry.
The exercise, which commenced on March 30, 2026, is set to run through April 28, 2026, offering a month-long opportunity for new voters to enlist and for existing ones to update or transfer their details.
Operating under the theme “Deepening Democracy in Kenya through Inclusive Voter Registration,” the commission is placing a significant emphasis on reaching young citizens who have recently attained the age of 18.
By bringing registration kits closer to the people, the IEBC aims to dismantle the logistical barriers that often hinder participation.
To ensure wide accessibility, the commission has deployed its kits across a diverse array of locations.
Registration services are currently being offered on a rotational basis across various County Assembly Wards (CAWs), as well as at Huduma Centres, IEBC constituency offices, and higher learning institutions.
For those in the capital, the IEBC Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers remains a primary hub for registration throughout the period.
However, the commission clarified that the exercise will not take place in areas currently facing active electoral activities or legal disputes.
This includes regions scheduled for the May 14 by-elections such as Porro Ward, Endo Ward, and Emurua Dikirr Constituency, as well as Malava and Mbeere North constituencies, where ongoing election petitions have temporarily frozen the registration process.
As the country prepares for upcoming electoral milestones, the IEBC has urged the public to rely strictly on official communication channels for accurate information.
