Western Kenya has a huge potential if we work together, CS Wandayi and Savula say

Political leaders from the Western and Nyanza regions are pushing for a fresh political alliance aimed at consolidating votes for President William Ruto while simultaneously strategizing for the 2032 presidential succession.

Speaking at St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya town during a service for the Anglican Diocese of Maseno West, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula urged residents to leverage their historical cohesion.

They argued that the two regions must move as a unified voting bloc behind President Ruto to secure his second term and eventually position themselves to capture the presidency.

CS Wandayi noted that past political milestones in the region, including those of veteran leader Raila Odinga, relied heavily on mutual support between Western and Nyanza communities.

He praised the current broad-based government for correcting decades of skewed development priorities that previously left both regions marginalized.

Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Governor Savula called on residents to combine their more than seven million votes to back President Ruto’s reelection, noting that such a strategic partnership would give the regions powerful leverage in future national leadership.

The gathering also drew spiritual guidance from ACK Maseno West Bishop Haung Godia, who reminded congregants that political alliances and leaders are temporary.

The prelate urged Kenyans to safeguard their shared future and unity, warning against allowing political transitions to cause permanent divisions among communities.
