Kolanya Students dumped inside a poorly equipped health facility after accident

BUSIA: The Busia County Health Department has come under sharp criticism for allegedly neglecting students from Kolanya Boys High School who were involved in a road accident.

A viral video circulating on social media shows the injured students lying on a cold, rough floor, many appearing unconscious and unattended.

The facility, which is visibly understaffed and in poor condition, struggled to handle the large number of students requiring medical attention.

A concerned parent, speaking to Kondele News on condition of anonymity, accused the school of failing to prioritize the students’ welfare by taking them to a better-equipped hospital.

“The children were involved in a road accident, but why would the school not act swiftly by transferring them to a better facility? This is totally irresponsible and uncalled for,” the parent lamented.

He further added, “Kocholya Hospital has nothing—not even a painkiller to relieve the pain for the affected children.”

Calls for Accountability

The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling on the Busia County Government and the school administration to explain the decision to take the injured students to an inadequate facility.

Parents and residents are now demanding better healthcare services and urgent upgrades to Kocholya Hospital to prevent such cases in the future.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
