Tik Toker who scammed job seekers million for fake jobs abroad

Maria Wangare Kamunge, also known as Rish Kamunge, and the Director of Trustpine Travel Agency was arraigned in court for being the alleged ringleader of a job placement scam that was aimed at swindling employment seekers who are from Kenya and want to work in Mauritius.

According to the victims, they were promised jobs with rents ranging from Sh200,000 to Sh400,000, but when they arrived, they found no jobs.

Not only those victims who arrived, but even some of them were sent back to Kenya after being stranded at the airport that was in Mauritius without their promised assistance.

Some of them even went to Mauritius.

It was uncovered that the suspect received a combined sum of Sh12.9 million from 43 victims.

In the end, her court appearance for custodial orders took place at the Capital Hill Police Station where she was remanded.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has requested other victims, also, to come forward and file a report at the nearest police station if they have been tricked.
