Have mercy on me, am sick, president Moi’s sick grandson pleads with court

Former President Daniel Moi’s grandson, Collins Kibet, will remain behind bars for two weeks after being held in contempt of court.

Mr. Kibet, who has frequently been in and out of police custody, is embroiled in legal proceedings for failing to provide for his two children.

Earlier today, court proceedings took a tense turn when Kibet lamented the lack of compassion from judicial authorities and public figures.

“I have asked this court for mercy several times. I am suffering and no one understands me,” he said, his voice trailing as police escorted him from the courtroom.

He further expressed disappointment in the absence of intervention from influential individuals who once frequented his family circle.

“I have asked leaders—friends of my father and grandfather—for help. I am just an orphan with no means. Why won’t they help me?”

Kibet, the firstborn of the late Jonathan Moi, has also opened up about the emotional and financial strain of caring for his ailing younger brother.

He revealed that well-wishers had stepped in to finance his brother’s medical treatment in India.

“My brother and I are suffering, and no one notices. He nearly died before officials came forward and helped us,” he lamented while being led out of court.

His grandfather, Daniel arap Moi, served as Kenya’s second president from 1978 until 2002 and was one of the nation’s wealthiest figures at the time of his passing
