KISII: Six people have died in a horrific road accident that occurred along the Kisii-Sotik road this evening.
According to local eyewitnesses, a lorry traveling from Keroka lost control and ploughed into several vehicles that were parked at Kijauri market.
“The driver of the lorry lost control and rammed into the vehicles that were parked on the roadside. People have lost lives, and others have sustained serious injuries,” said Kelvin Momanyi, a witness.
Momanyi called on local traders to move to the new market built by the county government, emphasizing, “If the traders had gone to the new market and left the roadside, we would not have had this accident. It is prudent the market shifts to the new location and leave the road free.”
Borabu Traffic Police Commander Wycliffe Kundu confirmed the incident, stating that the lorry, coming from the Keroka route, lost control and struck multiple vehicles parked at Kijauri stage.
The lorry then veered off the road, “flew over a ditch before landing on adjacent kiosks owned by small-scale traders.”
