It will be painful to the bandits and the leaders who finance them

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to politicians accused of fueling conflict along the Turkana and West Pokot borders.

Speaking in Arror, the CS condemned leaders who allegedly arm bandits, promising that the government will deal with them “accordingly.”

Murkomen highlighted the success of the past year’s disarmament efforts in Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet, noting that the focus is now shifting to the volatile Turkana-West Pokot corridor.

He warned that the upcoming multi-agency operation will be “painful” for profiled bandits and their high-level sponsors who incite communities and fund the purchase of ammunition.
