Kisumu: Police in Kisumu have arrested three suspects for allegedly robbing mourners during a funeral in Daraja Mbili, Manyatta B.
The incident took place at the homestead of the late Susan Achieng’ Otieno, where a group of armed robbers targeted those in mourning.
A distress call from a victim quickly brought officers from Kasagam Police Station, who were on foot patrol nearby.
“With the assistance of the community, three suspects were arrested, while their accomplices fled the scene,” the National Police Service stated on X.
A blue TVS motorcycle, believed to be the getaway vehicle, was recovered at the scene.
Police have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects and commended the community’s vigilance.
They’ve also appealed for any information that could lead to further arrests, assuring residents that patrols will be intensified as investigations continue.
The arrests come just weeks after a similar incident on July 9, 2025, when police in Embakasi apprehended three suspects for allegedly breaking into a godown on Mombasa Road.
Those suspects are accused of scaling a wall and cutting through the roof to steal a large quantity of electronics, including laptops, an iPad, and a speaker, among other valuables.
They are currently in custody awaiting charges.
