Police looking for suspects behind four different murder cases

Police are investigating a string of gruesome murders reported in various parts of the country this week, as families and communities grapple with the shock and violence of the incidents.

In Bomet County, a 24-year-old teacher, Jessica Chelangat, was found murdered in her house in Kiromwok village, Kamutari area, following a suspected domestic dispute.

Chelangat, a teacher at a local private academy, was discovered lying in a pool of blood with deep machete wounds to her head and hands.

Police believe she may have been killed on July 29. The prime suspect, thought to be her husband, fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities.

“The suspect is on the run. We are urging him to surrender for questioning,” said police.

The body was moved to the mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.

In a separate incident in Isebania, Migori County, Tiberis Mogendi, 35, was killed under unclear circumstances amid allegations of theft.

His body was discovered inside a shop with a severe head injury caused by a blunt object, which crushed his skull.

Police have launched a probe into the Tuesday night incident, with the motive yet to be confirmed. The body was taken to the morgue for autopsy.

In Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, police discovered the body of a 30-year-old boda boda rider, Damian Legha, dumped in a thicket in Mrabenyi village. The body had deep cuts to the head and was found with blood oozing from the face.

Authorities said the motive of the killing is still unclear. Legha’s remains were transferred to the Voi Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for examination.

Meanwhile, in Muthaiga village, Mwingi, Kitui County, residents found the naked body of a man abandoned in a bush.

The victim had visible injuries on his back, a broken left arm, and a deep cut to the head.

Police have yet to identify the deceased or determine the motive. Investigations are ongoing, and the body was taken to a nearby morgue for postmortem.

Authorities are urging members of the public with information to come forward as they intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators behind the killings.
