LAIKIPIA: Police in Laikipia East Sub-County have arrested two suspects linked to looting incidents during recent protests, following an intelligence-led operation in Majengo Village on July 29, 2025.

The early morning raid was led by the Officer Commanding Nanyuki Police Station (OCS) and resulted in the recovery of a variety of stolen items believed to have been taken from local businesses.

Among the recovered items were: 20 mismatched single shoes of various sizes, believed to have been stolen from a Bata outlet, 7 packs of hair braids, 6 pairs of socks, and 1 sealing tape branded Bestlady Cosmetics Ltd, 2 pieces of sewing thread, 7 bulb holders, and 2 computer power cables, a modified pressure machine and approximately 350 NSP kits, suspected to have been looted from LifeCare Chemist, which was vandalised during the unrest

Police said the suspects are in custody at Nanyuki Police Station, pending processing and arraignment. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to recovering all stolen property and arresting those involved in criminal activities during the protests through continued intelligence-led operations.

“We remain vigilant in ensuring that those responsible for looting and destruction of property face the full force of the law,” said a police spokesperson.
