Detectives Arrest Man Behind Viral Seditious TikTok Video

MOMBASA: Detectives have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, also known as Hon. Mosquito, in connection with a seditious video that was widely circulated on TikTok on August 1, 2025.

The inflammatory clip, which contained threats of violence and incitement against public order, quickly went viral—prompting widespread public concern and a swift response from security agencies.

Using forensic leads, investigators tracked Okindo to his hideout in Miritini, Mombasa County, where he was apprehended.

A search conducted at his residence led to the recovery of several items, including: Two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, a notebook bearing the handwritten message: “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes”, three mobile phones, assorted documents linked to the Justice Direction Party

Okindo is currently in custody and undergoing processing as detectives prepare to arraign him in court.
