Police Bust Garissa Gang Member, Recover Stolen Glock 17

GARISSA: police manhunt in Garissa has led to the arrest of 37-year-old Mumeni Nguma and the recovery of a Glock 17 pistol stolen during a violent armed robbery earlier this month.

Nguma was cornered at her hideout in Madogo after forensic investigations linked her to the August 5, 2025 attack on a licensed firearm holder in Bulla Buris.

That night, the victim was ambushed while walking home from a mosque by three masked men — one armed with an AK-47, another with a pistol, and the third with a rungu.

A brutal blow to the head knocked him unconscious, and his pistol along with cash were taken.

During interrogation, the suspect led officers to her house in Bula Kartasi, where a search yielded the stolen Glock 17 loaded with 17 live rounds, a pistol holster, a military smoke jacket, a service-colour belt, 11 passports belonging to different people, and other items linked to the crime.

Nguma is being held pending arraignment as police close in on the remaining gang members who remain on the run.
