Police Recover 77 Stolen Cattle in Fierce Night Operation in Meru

TIGANIA EAST: A joint security team in Meru County has recovered 77 cattle stolen from two residents of Tigania East following a late-night operation.

The well-coordinated movie-like raid, conducted around 11:00 p.m. yesterday, involved officers from Kangeta Police Station, the General Service Unit (GSU), the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU), and National Police Reservists.

According to police, the operation was launched shortly after the victims reported the theft at Kangeta Police Station.

Tracking the suspects led the team to Ngato Dam, where the cattle rustlers opened fire on the officers.

The ensuing gunfight ended with the suspects subdued and all 77 stolen cattle secured without loss.

The animals were taken to Ndomuru Police Station, where the owners positively identified them.

The National Police Service has pledged to sustain such joint efforts to protect lives and property across the region.
