DIANI: A multi-agency security team on Monday, 18 August 2025, arrested four suspected criminals during an intelligence-led operation in Umoja Village, Diani Township.

The operation, which was informed by tips from members of the public, led to the recovery of several items, including three pangas (machetes), a roll of bhang, four rocket parachute flares, and two mobile phones.

According to police, the suspects are linked to a spate of criminal activities reported in Magutu, Umoja, and Msikiti Musa areas.

They are currently in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court, while the recovered exhibits have been secured as evidence.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) lauded members of the public for their cooperation, noting that community intelligence remains critical in the fight against crime.

“The Service remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and will continue to conduct intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks,” NPS said.

Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing information that can help enhance security in the region.
