Kasipul Residents Warn ODM Against Imposing Candidate in Upcoming By-Election

KASIPUL: A group of professionals and residents from Kasipul Constituency has warned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party against plans to impose a preferred candidate in the forthcoming by-election.

Speaking during a gathering in Oyugis town, the group, led by Eng Tom Okoko, accused a senior ODM figure of taking sides, saying such actions undermine the principles of fairness and democracy.

Okoko urged the party to conduct a transparent, free, and fair nomination exercise.

Prof Silvance Abeka echoed the concerns, faulting ODM for what he termed as a pattern of sidelining Kasipul voters.

He stressed that the community would resist any attempts at political imposition, condemning the move in the strongest terms.

The Kasipul by-election is expected to draw significant attention following the assassination of area MP Charles Ong’ondo Were on April 30, 2025, in Nairobi.
