Police arrest a man suspected to have vandalised SGR

Police officers from the Makindu Railways Police Station, in Mtito Andei, successfully conducted an operation yesterday after receiving a report of vandalism along the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line near Kiboko.

The operation was initiated after a Metre Gauge Railway (MGR) train driver reported seeing two men vandalizing the outer perimeter of the SGR.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers confirmed that more than ten concrete poles had been smashed and their metal rods stolen.

Officers were able to trace one of the suspects to his home, where they recovered sections of the stolen metal rods.

The suspect was arrested, and efforts to apprehend his accomplice are ongoing.

The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and warns that all acts of vandalism will be dealt with decisively and in accordance with the law.
