Philip Aroko concedes defeat and promise to re-emerge

Philip Aroko, who contested the Kasipul constituency seat and lost to ODM’s Boyd Were has conceded defeat.

Hours after the IEBC had declared Were the winner, the independent candidate famously known as Otete Otete took to his Facebook page to first thank all those who supported and voted for him.

Aroko, who was the arch rival of the late former lawmaker Ong’ondo Were, had a date with the son of the latter in a duel that attracted much attention.

Here is his conceding speech and promise of returning.

“To my cherished constituents and supporters both in Kasipul and across the nation, I extend my deepest and most sincere gratitude for your true love and support.

This journey has been a testament to your commitment and while the path has been challenging, your spirit has made every step worthwhile. I was truly moved by the extraordinary passion and profound concern you exhibited during the recent Kasipul by-election. That zeal was real and undeniable.

I remain forever indebted to the people of Kasipul, today and for all the days to come.

Together, Team OTETE established deep and lasting roots in every home, every clan and every community within this great constituency.

To those constituents who may feel disheartened today, I feel you deeply. Please know that you have done me a profound honour. You turned out in full force and demonstrated your love and belief with authoritative clarity.

Let us remember: there is always a next time.

We must not let this moment diminish our resolve. Stay strong. Stay united. Our journey toward a better Kasipul is far from over.”
