Police officer among a dangerous kidnapping syndicate arrested

Detectives have destroyed a dangerous kidnapping ring following a major operation that led to the arrest of four suspects, including a serving police officer.

The gang is linked to a series of violent robberies and abductions that have terrorized residents since August 2025.

Their “signature” move involved kidnapping victims, blindfolding them, and using handcuffs to keep them quiet.

The attackers would then force the victims to hand over their M-Pesa PINs before dumping them in the middle of Kimende Forest in Lari.

A special team from the DCI Headquarters tracked the group down using forensic evidence. Among those arrested were Benard Kariuki, Ester Waithira Murigi, and Brian Mungai.

To the shock of investigators, the fourth suspect was identified as Police Constable Lawrence Kipkoech, an officer stationed at the Nairobi Railway Police Station.

Initial reports suggest that Constable Kipkoech was a key player in the group, using his position to help coordinate their activities.

During questioning, the suspects admitted that the handcuffs they used for the kidnappings are currently being held by another accomplice known only as “Alfred,” who managed to escape the police net.

The four suspects are now in custody while detectives launch a manhunt for Alfred. Police are working to find out if the group is responsible for other missing person cases across the city.
