Police arrest suspected robber in Migori

MIGORI: Police in Migori have apprehended a 32-year-old man believed to be the mastermind behind a string of violent robberies in the region.

Acting on actionable intelligence, a team from the Migori Police Station orchestrated a strategic ambush along the Migori-Kawa road, intercepting the suspect near Migori Stadium in Nyasare.

The suspect, identified as Justine Nyamete Jepter, was intercepted while driving a grey Toyota Succeed, which police believe was utilized as a getaway vehicle.

Upon a tactical search of the car, officers discovered a loaded Taurus revolver concealed in a compartment near the gear lever.

The weapon was found ready for use with seven rounds of ammunition.

A more thorough inspection of the vehicle uncovered additional evidence of criminal intent, including two extra rounds of .22mm ammunition hidden in the driver’s door handle and a dagger.

Jepter is currently in custody at the Migori Police Station awaiting arraignment, while both the firearm and the vehicle have been seized as exhibits for the upcoming court case.
