Celebrated media personality and TV host Sande Bush Oyolo, popularly known as Dr Ofweneke, has issued a public apology to musician Stevo Simple Boy following derogatory remarks made by a guest on his show.
The backlash began after internet sensation Andrew Kibe appeared as a guest on Ofweneke’s digital show, launching a scathing personal attack against Stevo Simple Boy.
The remarks sparked swift condemnation from Kenyans online, with many holding Ofweneke accountable for allowing the comments to air.
In a video uploaded to his official Facebook page, Ofweneke addressed the brewing controversy, taking full accountability for the incident and promising to edit out the offensive portions of the interview.
“I am not here to apportion blame to anybody,” Ofweneke stated adding that, “As the host of the show where Kibe was hosted, I take full responsibility and offer an unreserved apology to my younger brother, Stevo.”
Reflecting on the interview, the media host admitted he should have intervened during the recording.
“My reaction, again, as someone who has been celebrating Stevo, I should have done better. I apologize to Stevo and to the thousands of Kenyans who follow our shows. To the innocent child, I offer my apologies,” he added.
The personal attack on Stevo Simple Boy has sparked intense discussion across the entertainment industry. In a show of solidarity, the host of the Expozinga show went a step further, composing and releasing a song to support the musician amid the online storm.
