Kisii County Commissioner commends residents for skipping protests, cites Sh3m daily risk

Kisii County Commissioner James Mwangi has commended local stakeholders and business owners for choosing to steer clear of recent demonstrations, urging youth to prioritize economic stability.

Speaking from his office following a security assessment tour of the Kisii Central Business District (CBD) and its environs, Mwangi emphasized that the government remains fully prepared to deal with any elements intent on disrupting law and order.

According to the county administrator, the Gusii region’s robust economy means the local business community stands to lose an estimated Sh3 million for every single day operations are paralyzed by protests.

He urged local leaders to actively guide residents toward meaningful, income-generating activities that support their families.

“The youth should concentrate on their development projects and avoid distractions that cause them to lose their future focus,” Mwangi stated.

The Commissioner also extended a cautionary word to students currently on their half-term break, advising them to avoid political activities and instead focus on their school assignments to ensure good academic performance.
