Police officers on patrol along Juja Road arrested four robbery suspects and recovered a stolen mobile phone moments after a daylight attack reported by a member of the public.

One of the victims alerted authorities that he had been accosted by four men in the Amanna area, one of whom was armed with a firearm. During the confrontation, the armed suspect struck him on the head before the gang stole his valuables and fled.

Responding immediately, officers pursued the suspects and intercepted them in the Gaza area, successfully apprehending all four.

A search conducted during the arrest yielded the stolen mobile phone alongside a homemade gun believed to have been used in the offense. The suspects are currently in police custody pending arraignment.

In a separate operation in Nairobi, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have apprehended three suspects connected to the daring armed robbery at Chaiiwali Restaurant along General Mathenge Road in Westlands.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by DCI headquarters detectives targeting an apartment in Githurai Mwiki, where the suspects had sought refuge.

Sensing the officers’ presence, the trio attempted a dramatic escape by climbing down the rear of the sixth-floor building.

Their escape bid was foiled when alert members of the public raised the alarm, enabling detectives to swiftly close in.

The suspects have been identified as: Edison Mukama (alias Musa Abdul), a 22-year-old Rwandan national, Adens Kikanga, 25 and John Njuguna Githinji, 25

A female accomplice managed to escape during the operation and remains at large.

A subsequent search of their premises in the Manguo area of Githurai Kimbo led to the recovery of two firearms: a Mini Beretta pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition and a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with five rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations have tied the suspects to the brazen July 4, 2026, robbery captured on CCTV, wherein armed criminals stormed Chaiiwali Restaurant, terrorized patrons, looted valuables, and fired shots into the air while fleeing on motorcycles.

The recovered weapons have been forwarded to the National Police Service Forensic Laboratory for ballistic examination to ascertain their use in previous violent crimes.

Meanwhile, the suspects remain in custody as a multi-agency manhunt continues to track down remaining accomplices and dismantle the wider criminal ring.
